The Pavilion Activities

A wide range of activities catering for all ages is available at The Pavilion including: dance and cheerleading classes for children and young people; rugby and football sessions for all ages; indoor bowls and a quilting club.

NEW TIMETABLE FOR 2013

Circuit Challenge

Monday 10:00-10:45 am. A class designed for all shapes and sizes. Exercise at your own pace with our circuit challenge. A great way to tone up, improve strength and muscular endurance and an excellent way to improve your cardio fitness.

Pilates

Monday 11:00-12:00 noon & Thursday 6:00-6:45pm. Pilates targets the deep postural muscles which can help re-balance the body, bringing it into correct alignment. Pilates will develop your strength, flexibility and endurance while challenging your core.

Kettlercise

Monday 5:20-6:15pm. A non impact weighted exercise program that has been designed to shape & sculpt the body for rapid fat loss without the look of huge bulky muscles. It's fun, super quick & super effective! Kettlercise is a complete overall total body workout.

Zumba

Monday 6:15-7:00pm & Thursday 2:00-2:45pm. This workout mixes body sculpting movements with dance steps derived from various dances including merengue, salsa, mambo, rumba, flamenco & calypso, with a combination of fsat & slow rhythms. It targets areas such as the glutes, legs, arms, abdominals and the heart.

Walking Group

Tuesday 10:00 am. A walking group leaves The Pavilion at 10.00a.m. every Tuesday which caters for all abilities by providing the opportunity for a short or long walk.  The walk is free of charge and tea or coffee is provided.  Please wear suitable footwear.

Tai Chi

Tuesday 5.00-6.00pm. Tai Chi is a chinese system of slow meditative physical exercised designed for relaxation, stress relief and to improve balance and health.

Bodytone

Wednesday 10-10.45am. Friday 9.30-10.15am. This class is aimed at beginners or people wanting to get back into exercise. This fun, low impact class enhances body tone and improves well being.

Yoga

Wednesday 11.00-12.30pm. Gentle stretching exercises designed to improve flexibility and promotes well-being including breathing exercises and guided relaxation.

Ladies Running Club 

Wednesday from 5:45 pm. Have you ever fancied taking up running but never got around to it?  Well, here is your chance.  The group is specifically for female beginners and participants must be aged 16+. 

Chair Exercise

Thursday 10:15-10:45 am. This is a fun relaxed gentle exercise class suitable for the less mobile. All exercises are performed on or around a chair which gives added support and stability for participants.

Dance Fit

Thursday 11.00am-12noon. Dance Fit is a low impact dance class suitable for the over 50's and/or beginners. Easy to follow steps. Low impact fun class.

Helford Road Indoor Bowls Club

Taekwondo

The Pavilion is the home of Peterlee Koryo Taekwondo Club. The Club is open to new participants, male and female aged 6 plus. Taekwondo is a Korean martial art and involves learning self defence, blocks, kicks, strikes and patterns.  This is an Olympic sport and an ideal way to keep fit. £2.50 per lesson.

  • Training times: Thursdays 4.30pm until 6.00pm.

Junior Athletics Club

Saturday 11:00-11:45 am. For youngsters aged 8-13 years. Activities include running, fitness, exercise and athletic-based activities. Fully qualified and CRB checked coach. For further information or to register, please contact the Pavilion 0191 5869957. £2.00 per session (introductory price).

Cricket

Peterlee Cricket Club has had teams playing and representing Peterlee since the late 1950's. Cricket is played at Peterlee Oval from the last Saturday in April until and including the second Saturday in September each year. We have junior and senior cricket teams who play at weekends. Off season junior cricket is played indoors at The Academy at Shotton Hall. We have qualified CRB checked coaches.

Football

Peterlee Helford United Football Club is a community run umbrella organisation for local youth and adult age groups. Affiliated clubs represent Peterlee Helford from as young as 8 through to Under 16s and beyond. Little Dribblers

Fun football training sessions for youngsters.
Ages 6-8 years Friday 4.30-5.15 pm (outdoor session).
Ages 3-5 years 5.20-6.05 pm (indoor session)

Fun & enjoyable sessions focusing on passing, shooting & dribbling. Learn and develop new football skills in a fun & friendly environment. All coaches have a valid enhanced CRB check.
