Coxhoe  and Quarrington Hill Community Website

Welcome Everyone

Welcome to the Coxhoe and Quarrington Hill Community Website. We hope you will find it better, brighter and more useful than our previous one. It is packed with new and up to date information about the Parish Council and the area we serve. The Parish Council has worked in partnership with Durham County Council and Coxhoe Community Partnership to produce this comprehensive, accessible and user friendly site. We invite you to have a look around it. The site has had hits from countries from Australia to Jamaica. We would like to say a very big thank you to visitors to our site from all over the world.  November 2011 was the sites best month yet with 773 site visits and 2,845 page views from 18 countries.New 101 number for non eergencies

New Police Telephone Number for non emergency calls.

There is now a new Police telephone number to help you report crime locally. 101 is the number to call when you want to contact your local police - when it’s less urgent than a 999 call. 101 is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Find out more by following this link

Changes to waste collections service

The County Council will commence rolling out a more efficient waste collection service from April this year. This means that recycling will be collected one week and recycling collected the next. The normal day of the visit may also change.

All households in the County will receive a new grey wheeled bin with a blue lid for recycling. You will need to use this for your reycling items rather than the green bag you have nowDurham County Council Guidance Leaflet. The following can be placed in the new grey bin:

  • mixed paper and card;
  • mixed plastic;
  • food tins and drink cans;
  • cartons; and
  • aerosols

Bottles and jars will still be collected in the green plastic box that you currently use. You will need to leave the new grey bin out with the green box one week and the existing waste bin the next week.

In Coxhoe and Quarrington Hill the new recycling bin will be delivered between April and May. You will receive details of the collection day with the delivery of your bin. The new service will then start in mid June although you can use your recycling bin as soon as you get it. If you have a green bag you can either re-use this in or around your home or if you cannot find a new use for it just put it in your new erecycling bin.
